Pay as you go dongles
Discussion
Hi, I know I'm going back to the dark ages here, I used to have a Vodaphone internet dongle about 12 or more years ago which was sketchy at best but in a poor signal area.
I'm likely to be at a place with no actual internet although phone signal is OK.
Is there a decent USB dongle to allow lap top usage?
thanks

Yup - you can even get a full fat proper router with 4G or 5G instead of being wired to a landline.
Fill your boots.

Router recommendations in there as well as directional or omni-directional antenna advice to improve signal strength / speed.

It would seem that things have moved on since 2009!
To clarify, it's probably for a week, maybe two, bit of browsing plus MotoGP on BT Sport and a couple of football matches on NowTV.
At home we are with BT for internet and my mobile phone while TV is through Sky (with BT Sport add on) with the occasional one day licence for NowTV.
Remembering I'm back in 2009 in my limited tech knowledge, I need to start reading up but if anyone could nudge me towards 2022 in simple terms that would be really helpful.
Thanks

If your phone signal is ok (which it seems to be from your first post), then it's as simple as setting up your phone to broadcast a local wifi signal that you can then log in to with your laptop (tethering).Remembering I'm back in 2009 in my limited tech knowledge, I need to start reading up but if anyone could nudge me towards 2022 in simple terms that would be really helpful.

On an iPhone go to Settings & click on Personal Hotspot.
If you have an android it'll be something very similar.
Edited to say make sure you have enough data in your phone contract to allow for your planned usage, obviously.
