Just like ET, my mobile phone is calling home........ As I entered the house the landline was ringing, I picked it up to find my name was displayed, and then noticed it was my mobile number. I didn't feel the 'phone vibrating in my pocket.
To be clear - It isn't a smart phone and has no internet connectivity - basically a 'dumb phone'
I found it has called home on 3 occasions, and each time it was at 4:25 or 4:26 pm (fortunately not am biggrin)
I called the provider (EE) who have suggested the phone is faulty, but I think it's a 'software fault' at their end. My reasoning..
1.The calls at same time of day
2. it's a flip phone, so buttons can't be activated whilst it is 'shut' in my pocket
3. In addition to 2 above, there is no redial button, so it would have to search contact, and dial, so that's about as likely as me winning the lottery.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Have you ever paired it to Bluetooth in your car?

I haven't - I wouldn't even know if that's possible? It can't connect to the internet, if that answers the question.

if you car has bluetooth it is definitely possible to connect your phone to it, in which case your car could be doing the dialling.
But if you don't know anything about it it is quite unlikely. Typically pairing a phone to a car's bluetooth is a multi hour process and involves reading 3 manuals while standing on 1 leg because you are locked out the car with 1 shoe in the boot with the voice control system shouting at you in Danish while you try and change the language back to English.

I can add when the mobile phoned the landline this afternoon I'd just got out of my car, which is 40 years old and doesn't even have a radio redface
My Wife's car has Bluetooth, but I'm sure my phone (a 12 year old Samsung flip) isn't capable of pairing with it. Her car was 10 miles away at the time.
I'm convinced EE must have an issue at their end.

Maybe it's time for a newer phone? I can't think how an operator can force a handset to make a call. They can probably make your mobile ring but they can't make it make outbound calls.

Does your phone have a "SOS/Assistance" button on the back? If so, has it been programmed to call your home number?

Almost certainly this will be accidental phoning home from button presses in your pocket. The flip cover might be protecting the buttons, but pressure/twisting on the phone as you slide out of the vehicle might be triggering the keypad anyway. I suggest if you place the phone elesewhere in the vehicle the phantom calls will stop...

How about removing your home number from your phone? It then has no knowledge of it and can't dial it at random.

If the call can be found in your phone call History it is definitely initiated from your phone. If it's not there but can be seen in the calls list from your bill (if you get one) then you might have a chance that the network may do something. However I am pretty sure it would be initiated from your phone.

The 'phone being faulty seems to be the answer....... This morning I flipped it open and there was a faint glow across the screen before I couldn't even turn it on.
Thanks all for the help.
