Home automation (Alexa, Google etc.) in multiple locations
Discussion
Trying not to make this sound like a first-world problem.
We've just bought a second place, and would like the option to manage both properties for heating/lighting/security etc. while we're away from them through an Alexa or Google Home type solution.
I can't see an obvious way to do this with the current Alexa app, so had considered running one place on Alexa and another on Google. But that then throws up challenges with things like smart sockets (for lighting) in different properties being managed through the same TP Link app.
Has anyone tried to do this?

You could buy a cheap Fire tablet on a different Amazon account and use that to remote control your 2nd home.
Probably not going to work for us, as MrsC and I would both need to have access. Remembering to charge and take another thing with us probably isn't going to fly, sadly.Heartworm said:
The Google home app can control 2 separate homes and you select between them (I control my parents from my house)
Is this 2 homes on the same Google account, or is it a case of logging out of your google account and into your parents' one? It would be handy for me to a access my parents' but they are all set up on their own account.Heartworm said:
It's all set up on their account, but I sent an 'invite home member' to my own Google account in Google home. On my own Google home I can then select from a drop down which home im accessing.
Sorry for the delay, I never spitted the reply!
I completely forgot I had posted the query! Thanks though, that's really useful to know I can do that as inevitably my parents muck something up and I have to wait until I visit before fixing it Sorry for the delay, I never spitted the reply!

They also have Philips Hue (which is linked to Google Home) but I think I need to have direct access to Hue to change settings such as timed lights or adding a new bulb etc.

My parents have hue too, yes you need to be there for adding a new device. I haven't set up any automations for times etc in hue, all the timers etc for them are in Google home so I can adjust as required.
