Hi, guys I had a website built a couple of years ago and not done anything with it(never been used), it was live and it developed a problem
so I got a guy to look at it, it's been built using the "Laravel" system/framework, basically this guy has sort of fixed it but said
Lavarel isn't that good and I need a new site, Is he correct or just looking for me to buy a new website off him,

Any opinion's greatly accepted

He is talking nonsense

Laravel is a framework based on PHP
PHP powers the vast majority of the world's websites
As a framework, think of Laravel as a series of templates and modular chunks of code
Advantages:
- coding is faster
- coding is more reliable
- you can find others who know Laravel and they should be able to pick up the code immediately

Disadvantages
- harder for someone who doesn't know the Laravel framework
- can mean that those who code using it charge slightly more as they have a label to their skills
not sure there are many other disadvantages

There are a number of frameworks out there, and many developers will have their favourite which they want you to use, but Laravel is totally industry standard and perfectly acceptable for coding... as to whether it is suitable for your website / purposes - difficult to know without the details, but no reason to think that it is wrong intrinsically...

Laravel is excellent for what is does, but it's almost entirely a server-side framework. All the HTML, CSS and client-side Javascript is largely outside the scope of Laravel.

To make any kind of web application with Laravel has a pretty steep learning curve - modifying one that someone else has produced, doubly so.

What's the website actually do? If it's largely static pages, either Wordpress or "raw" HTML/CSS could be a more appropriate option.

Nobody likes taking on anyone else's projects, especially something weird like you have (i.e. not Wordpress) so 'you need a new one mate' is the default answer sadly.

Sounds like someone who doesn't know Laravel that well and would rather not have to.
