My 18 month old Compaq Evo N610c laptop has met an untimely death so I need to find a suitable replacement.

This is the spec of it www.pcwb.com/servlets/Catalogue?item_code=HPNB0123&shop=PCWBD&speedtrapid=froogle&lead=froogle

Budget will be £1000-£1500 and I would like a maximum of 14" screen, DVDRW, 60GB min HDD and 512MB min RAM.
Firewire would be nice, but the main feature has to be lightweight as the n610c was pretty heavy and I hate lugging it around.

I used to have an old Compaq HP Armada M300 which was great as the CD base was removable which left a very lightweight device.

I am happy to have an external optical drive if that helps.

Any recommendations?

Good piece of kit & the difference between the X range and the heavyweight T range is much less than the price suggests
