I don't have web access at work (or in the car) & would love to be able to listen to some of the stuff on the BBC radio sites - is it possible to download & save to MP3 or does it always need to be streamed over a live connection?

thanks,
SC

It's convoluted, but possible.

You need a program that will save a streaming audio to your local hard drive, such as CoCSoft Stream Down.

You then need a way of converting that to MP3, such as Winamp with the RealPlayer input plugin and the MP3 output plugin. Or indeed any program that can convert from the format that Stream Down has saved (usually Real format) to MP3.

As I said - convoluted, but possible.

I bought Total Recorder (www.highcriteria.com/) for this very job - however it is very good at recording anything which is played through your pc.

You have a lot of control, and at the same time is easy to use, it is very cheap and I've had at least 3 version updates free.

Cheers

There is a trial going on where you can downoad a few radio 4 programmes in mp3 format - I downloaded a few weeks worth of 'In our time' and took them on holiday to listen to. They are only available to download for a week after the time of broadcast though. It is a great idea.

Thanks teecee.

And what a coinidence, I was about to post a question about this! Has anyone used RePlay audio? What I want to do is record a radio segment on each week at the same time, can RePlay do this automatically does anyone know, or do I have to be there to hit record? Not too compumetutor literate so not sure what to look for.

Cheers Folks,

Brian.

I have used mine for a while now and it works very well. However i had a few problems until I deselected the Aquire Licenses Automatically for Protected Content in Windows Media Player,Privacy Options.Deselect the last three options as well to prevent Microsoft filling its database with details of your playing habits.Good value programme!
