SATELLITE DISH INTERNET FOR FRENCH HOME - RAPID & RELIABLE?
Discussion
I wonder if anyone out there can help with this please?
My wife and I are currently in the process of buying a holiday home in rural France. The current owner tells us that the wi-fi connection is strong and it has the added benefit of a booster for outdoor areas.
However, because the internet has become such an important part of modern day life and business, I need to be sure that I can get a reliable, adequate speed service, if the standard service turns out not to be as good as he has promised!
So, my question is, if the wi-fi connection at the property is not great, can I install a dish and get satellite broadband, and will it be reliable and rapid?
Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks in advance.

I presume that you already realise that Wi-Fi and Internet are 2 completely different things. You can have a fantastic Wi-Fi implementation and a useless Internet service or you could have a brilliant Internet service and a useless Wi-Fi implementation. My wife and I are currently in the process of buying a holiday home in rural France. It's the Internet service you need to worry about - Wi-Fi can be fixed.

it sounds like the backhaul to the property maybe wireless rather than cable (xDSL or whatever) and end up getting called WiFi...It's the Internet service you need to worry about - Wi-Fi can be fixed.
