Hi, i need some help here.
The problem i have, or should i say my friend has is that when we are chatting via Skype (voip) or Messenger Audio there is a lot of White noise feedback through the speakers. My frind who is in the States can hear everything clearly from me, but I get this noise from her. (It sounds like someone filling a bucket at close range with a high power hose.)
I've used Skype & messenger Audio with other people around the world & had no problems, which makes me think it's at my friends end where the problem initiates.
Are there any tweaks one can do to the audio settings on the pc to try & overcome this? as it's getting rather annoying only hearing 1/2 a conversation & having toask her to type the bits that I cant here. :type:
Both pc's are running Windows XP sp2
Thanks in advance for help

Are you both using earphones? I found the audio quality was very poor using ordinary speakers due to feedback between the speakers and the microphone.

There was a recent release of Skype where improvement of suppression of feedback between the speakers and mic was listed on the features list - check you're both running a current version. (1.3.0.60, although I think it was .57 which had the fix).

Might not fix it, but shouldn't do any harm.

ETA: see change log

I am using headphones & a boom mic, my friend however is usonf speakers & an integral mic to her web cam.
we both have the latest version of Skype which we thought might sort out the trick, but it doesn't.
Messenger Audio has the same effect.so this is where we think it may be software configuration problem
As I said, using skype to a friend in B.C. Canada was a clear as a bell, Using Messenger Audio to a work colleague was also pretty clear.
It just seems like there is a problem with my friend in the States.
She has tried it on her laptop & also her pc, still the same feedback, noise .

Also both systems have broadband
