Been asked advice by a mate who cant figure this out.

They have installed a pc acting as a file server running windows xp pro as part of a windows 2000 domain network.

Copied the contents of a file share off the existing server across and set the home folder on the profiles to this new folder. Set all the share permissions of this new folder so that everyone has full access, including change control etc.

Here is the wierd part - just had a user phone him up saying that they can see all the files, open the files but if they open a file and try to save it, they get the message "unable to read from source file or disk". However if you rename it as something else it saves ok :S

The new folder has been remapped as the same drive letter (h) and he has made sure that the permissions are set for"everyone" to have full access.

HELP?????????? PLEASE

XP Pro's only supposed to handle a low number of connections - 10 I think. I'm not sure if its purely a licencing thing or wether it tells you to get lost after 10 connections, but its worth checking into.

Hi, Thanks for your response. Only 5 connections - so that should be ok.
