Has anyone started using SUS to help with patching?
We use it at our biggest client site. We used its predecessor too (WUS or whatever it was called that week). The latest one is hugely impressive from what i've seen of it. We're almost considering using it in place of SMS packages for patch distribution (except we STILL have about 30% nt4 desktops). Although, windows update is at a stage now where it's relaible enough to use for smaller networks where bandwidth isn't an issue.
Oh, and to anyone who does use SUS, it would appear that if a revision to a patch you've already approved is released, then it's approved by default straight away (unless we've ticked some hidden "no we don't want to bother testing" box by mistake).

If you had a choice, would you use WUS or SUS and why? We're going down this route at work, but I don't know enough about it yet...
Twas great fun trying to patch this week....
Every time we patch machines, a couple always break. And they break in different ways - even if they are the same build. So we stopped patching, and we got hit....doh!
Damned if you do, damned if you don't!
You know it's bad when your Boss buys in a crate of Red Bull and tells the team it's going to be a long, long night

It's basically so you have your own local version of windows update. The main two benefits are:
1: 2000 machines don't rape your internet connection every time a patch is release
2: you can govern what patches get released to your PC's automatic update clients. i.e. the ones you've tested.
