Re-registering Domains
Discussion
I have a couple of domains which have come up for renewal. The current holders' site isn't the easiest to navigate although I gather that the renewals are £8.50 for two years. If I were to transfer to anybody else should it cost me anything?
I only use web and email forwarding services.
Is this a reasonable cost?

The current registrars can charge what they like to switch the registration to someone else, and there's nothing much you can do about it. £8.50 for two years isn't a bad price.
register1.net have been recommend by several here, and it seems likely I am going to switch my vanity domain there shortly.

£8.50 isnt a bad price, we charge £5.48, so not much in it at all. To transfer, you just need to get your current Registrar to change the IPS tag to the new provider.
You will get charged to transfer, BUT, will get a renewal as part of the transfer ..
ie £5.48 to transfer a .co.uk but you get a 2 year renewal as part of the the transfer, so its not 'cost' you anything.
If you're happy where you are, then dont stress and just pay imho. If you're not happy, then its a simple enough process to transfer away.
