Can anyone offer some advice as I have run out of ideas. My friend in Oz registered the doamin www.berrybankolives.com and I produced a basic website at http://glambert.netcom.co.uk/berrybank/index.htm.

However, despite the name servers being allocated (see WHOIS for domain) it still comes up [Your requested host "www.berrybankolives.com" could not be resolved by DNS.]

We've had real trouble with getting support out of the name registration people.

Where could it be going wrong? Does the name need to be registered in another location?

I have my own sites separately to this and no problems with them.

The DNS servers themselves are responding, although a little strangely with 2 different IPs for the site. This could be perfectly logical if they are offering some form of DNS RoundRobin Load balancing

http://berrybankolives.com/

Works.

www.berrybankolives.com/

DOESNT

The Nameservers are NOT serving a Valid A record for www.berrybankolives.com

You need to get them to add one.

Thanks for that. They did muck around with the settings I put in, but I didn't realise http://berrybankolives.com was working. We'll get back to them...

Hummmm - both of them work fine for me (tested seperately with IE and firefox). They're slow - but they work.

Running via BT if that helps.

He registered it before I knew about it - if we couldn't get it working, was going to suggest a transfer to Register1

They have now added a CNAME for www.

not quite the correct solution, but better than nothing I suppose
