Full FTTP has arrived at last so considering the providers with City Fibre. I don’t need the full on 900 mb/s probably 150 will be sufficient for general Internet and streaming movies. Quite a few devices (around 20) in the house though.

So looking at the list Octaplus seems to be the cheapest at £21 month for 150.

Mixed reviews online though, anybody got any personal experience for advice please?

Also, I want a powerful WiFi router to go with it to distribute the signal throughout the house, large modern house, brick construction. Currently using a TP-Link Archer VR2800 but seems to drop the signal a lot, so hoping for something better?

You get what you pay for with ISPs in the main. We have Cityfibre through Zen internet - probably a bit more expensive but they have been first class and (touch wood) I don't think we've had any issues whatsoever since we joined. We joined at the time they were providing Technicolor routers, it's not the best but we have a Mesh wifi system anyway so that's not an issue. They usually provide Fritz!Box routers though which I understand to be a lot better.

I’m with giganet on a 900 package £39 they also offer a 150 package for £25 all using the city fibre network.

It’s been bullet proof since it was installed (think about 2 years ago) we had one issue in a stork that damaged a cable and giganet send a mobile sim and router straight away whilst waiting for a fix which was sorted in a couple of days and removed that months bill. There are cheaper out there i could switch to but after experiencing the good customer service I wont be moving.

I never answered the router part. We swapped that out for Netgear orbi wifi6 mesh (2 bases cover the whole house) and very stable with both hard wired to Ethernet.

If you want to use the full bandwidth dont underestimate how close your wifi nodes need to be to each other.
My house is 2000 sq ft so not massive but takes 5 velop nodes to get good coverage (i.e solid speeds). In fact 6 if you count the garage.

I've got the 900 from CityFibre through Vodafone. Only because they offered me a good deal to renew.
