Hi there I have a DG834guk router. First faults were PC not being able to find it wirelessy. Switching it off and on resloved that. PC thens found it and it woked a treat. Next day same thing, no wireless, switching on and off, hey presto connected

Now despite it being switched on at the mains no lights are on. Switching it on and off the lights all come on. NETGEAR support suggested running the firmware recovery procedure but the proceudure wont see it as a listed device despite it being connected and windows showing a valid network connection.

NETGEAR have given me a RMA number to send it back to them but wondered if anoone else experienced this or can offer some more advice?

Upgrade to V2 of the firmware if it isn't currently. That fixed that issue with mine.

Cheers tried that but each time I try and run the updgrade (via Ethernet) it gets about half way then the router reboots and loses its lan connection

Reset to defaults via the switch on the back before flashing it?

Aye try holding the reset switch in for 30 odd seconds to do a full reset. Think it needs to be held in for some time but 30 seconds should cover it.

Nope tried those as well, look like its going back to Netgear.Checked on their forum last night and it seems to be a problem with this router. Lots of complaints from users..

I have had this problem with most of the netgear routers and the support you get is crap!!

Send it back and get a Dlink one

LOL - you always get 'complaints' on tech support forums....funny that

Come on here and you'd never buy a sportscar at all - too many people with problems

If you have a problem, get it RMA'd - get a new one.

To give you a little hope, my old netgear FM114P never skipped a beat, never rebooted, lost connection or anything bad.

Just upgraded to a DG834G, only had it a week or so but so far it had not rebooted itself, dropped the connection, or anything. Maybe I'm lucky or maybe a few people are unlucky and are more vocal when things go wrong.

Hopefully it'll all work for you this time

Same here, my DG834G has been solid as a rock coping with constant downloading since June (about 250gig to date!!)

Running latest firmware on it.

Me too, still trying to get my wireless router to recognise my ADSL connection.
