pdf writing software

I am looking for cheap, reliable, software to save Word and Excel documents in pdf form to send as attachments to emails etc.
I do not want any "bells & whistles" just something that is functional.
Can anybody recommend a decent product, and where to buy it? (on-line, or store - I am in the Bristol area).

OpenOffice opens Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ...), many other office document formats (StarOffice, XML, etc.) and can save them to PDF.

Guranteed free and open source, unlimited commercial usage, etc.
