XBOX Live WinXP error "unable to contact your DHCP server"
Discussion
Hi,
A friend of mine cannot get his XBOX working on live - the xbox is connected to his laptop (Ethernet) and the laptop to the modem via USB. He is using BT Broadband and a Voyage modem.
It has actually worked once but now he is receiving the error "unable to contact your DHCP server".
I've disabled the firewall and tried ipconfig /release then /renew etc. He says he hasn't changed anything! The Ethernet adapter looks ok within device manager.
I'm not in front of his laptop so any thoughts on things to try, pleased let me know.

His XBox need an IP address, and can't get one from the DHCP server (which I assume is on the laptop).
I assume you're using Internet Connection Sharing? That should provide a DHCP server (if I remember correctly, don't usually use it!) so the first thing to check is the ICS config
