Quick one: say I created a Powerpoint presentation and burned it to a CD-ROM; how do I go about making it run automatically when you insert into the drive? I've seena file called 'autorun' on new discs, I presume I'd need to add something similar?

Yep, you need an autorun.inf file which tells Windows which file to autorun.

Loads of info on Google.

In powerpoint it's self, theres an option to 'pack n go' or something - that makes the CD for you, sorts the autorun and even automaticaly installs the powerpoint viewer on the target machine if it hasnt got powerpoint on it. Pretty ace really.
