Annoying iPhone word highlighting

Since an update a while ago, my iPhone has taken to highlighting adjacent words randomly when I click to edit or insert and it’s really hard to just make the cursor move to where I want.

Anyone know how to stop this stupid function?

No. It’s annoying.

Weirdly I noticed that today on WhatsApp and ended up having to type a complete sentence again.

As above I do hold down the space bar to move the cursor around. The whole things pretty st though really.

Also facebook and the like control the behaviour so that really fks it up. You can’t always copy a paragraph and things like that

You hold in your hand a device that can access pretty much the the sum total of human knowledge and culture. It costs (at minimum wage) a few hours a month of labour.

That, to me, appear to be the bargain of the millennium.
