I have a short video clip (either MPG or WMV format) that I would like to extract the audio soundtrack from as an MP3 or similar.

Can anyone suggest an easy way to do this (I only have rudimentary editing tools which don't seem to support this functionality) or perhaps help me out with a conversion (I only need to do it once)? :)

Quite a few mp3 recorders around like this one,

www.replay-video.com/freecorder/index.php

Basically records anything being played through your soundcard so you can play the video and records audio to Mp3 that way. Freeware one limited I think 30mins but if its a short clip should be enough. May be a better solution to rip direct from the video file but not aware myself.

I'm sure someone will give you a better option but you could download one of the demo versions of WinAmp etc that will allow you to record the sound played through your PC soundcard (ie play the video clip, record and save as MP3 etc).

Thanks for your suggestions: I've followed the route of downloading one of the recording applications and these seems to have done the job.
