This has been the case for a few years now, and I’d like to sort it out. iPhone 16 Pro Max, latest update, also with my previous 12 Pro, and on my lappy.

If I post on Facebook and start to type a name, Facebook used to auto-suggest names of friends, but no longer does. Except… in replies! Obviously I’ve searched through settings, but can’t see anything. Does anyone here know what I can do?

Hopefully that’s clearer than mud!

Thanks, and that works. Sort of ruins the flow, and strange how it’s not needed in replies. Weird ol place, thanks again.

I'm not sure if this is the same issue you are meaning, but users can also turn off the ability for them to be tagged in other peoples posts or photos.

I have literally everything turned off and/or locked on mine. Friends can write my name in a post, but it doesn't tag me, link to me, highlight me, notify me, or anything else. It appears as plain text.

But as I’ve mentioned in my OP, in a reply I can link them just by starting to type their name, then selecting the required name from the list that pops up. If they’d prevented it happening, it wouldn’t happen at all. And I doubt every single Facebook contact would’ve made that selection.
