I'm going to install an outdoor camera, I will be using WiFi.It has an ethernet connector as well as a power lead .I intend passing the power cable in the gap between a window frame and the wall but the ethernet plug is pretty big and as I'm not going to be using it can I just cut it off ?

you can.. after you have configured the camera with your router at home, but if you ever decide to change your internet in the future, it can be tricky to add the IP camera to your router. The easiest way i found was to use powerline adaptors eith the ethernet

The camera also uses WiFi so that's how it will always be connected, I've already had it working in the house with an app on my phone

You can assuming the Wifi will work adequately. The cable is also designed to seal the unit to a degree as well however so make sure you tape up the ethernet port or something will crawl in there or you'll get water ingress.

Can you power it using PoE? If so you could then run a Cat5 through the frame, will just need a small hole. Obviously you'll need to be able to crimp a RJ45 connector on.

This looks like a Tapo camera. If so, mine came with a cover for the Ethernet, so I put that over it, and I've had no problems. I don't think it supports PoE though.

Cutting it off may allow water ingress as it's outside, so if you do, make sure you seal it.

I'll probably just tuck the cable between the window and wall and use some silicone to seal it.
There's no mention of PoE and the router is in the back bedroom so out of reach.

Just bear in mind that a lot of WiFi cameras can be rendered useless temporarily by a determined not-right. It’s always better to hardwire a camera.
