How to get an Apple iPhone 14
Discussion
Hi all. I’m still using an XR on a sim only contract but time taking its toll as well as the limited storage means I need an upgrade. I’m not that bothered for the latest one but apple have got me with the iCloud and photos and everything so I’ve decided to aim at a 14 for price / future proofing for a while, and seem to have the following options
EE have offered a £32 36 month new phone unlimited useage contract
Keep current sim contract I like and buy £500 new one from Currys
EBay has “new unboxed” for around £350 - what are these?
Refurbished or renewed ones at around £250 - are these any good?

Keep monitoring this site until you see one you like. Stock changes constantly:
https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/refurbished/iphone
Full 2 year warranty as with new products, and you can add Apple Care+ if you want to.

I was in the same position a few weeks ago and had a four or five year old XR on a £10 a month unlimited SIM only contact. I kept the contract and purchased a new iPhone 15 Plus for £538 from Very on a discounted finance deal.
I had just missed out on the Argos £499 iPhone 14 Plus offer but I was pretty happy with the outcome.

Definitely do not buy a 16E. Utter turd.
Its absolutely not "utter turd" - its an excellent compromise for a handset that is running the same A18 as the rest of the 16 range and the same 8gb ram too.The camera is very decent for a single lens and many wont miss multi-lens (esp not coming from a similar single-lens XR)
It doesnt have mag-safe - this may or may not be a loss frankly
Even against the 14 its considered a decent upgrade ... https://www.macrumors.com/guide/iphone-14-vs-iphon...
Anyhoo, back on topic.
For a refurb I have used Reboxed many times for my parents (most recently for iPhone 14s for them) I always go for either "great" or "excellent" condition and they are absolutely that - no complaints from me or their intended recipients.

Just head to your local CEX and buy which ever one takes your fancy and the right price point.

I think online purchases get 14 day returns as well, but you can order online and collect instore and then inspect it etc...

If I may tag along on here, my son has an iPhone -X which I bought second hand of someone on PH a few years ago and it's been flawless however with constant use, usually the camera, the battery is dying. A battery condition check reads only 66% when full and the actual charge drops from an indicated 99% to 30% and less over a few hours without being used.
He's talking of a new 'phone, he's a student so not that well off, any suggestions? He's only on a £5/month plan with EE that I pay for and happy to stay that way. Happy to go s/h again off someone on here. Needs to be an i-phone as he knows the OS etc. (I'm Android and hate Apple as I don't understand it).
Thanks

My son was in a similar position withix iPhone XR. We had a new battery fitted by Apple. Took about an hour and cost £85. Has given phone a completely new lease of life. Might be worth considering. It's a turd.

60hz, single camera, no magsafe, and that ridiculous notch for £600?
It's a turd.
I'm sure plenty of people won't care about any of that. Personally I like magsafe and I'm an amateur photographer so I want the best camera system I can get in a phone. But I wouldn't give a toss about notches and I have no idea why anyone who isn't a child needs more than a 60Hz display. As an adult, I don't play games and so screen refresh rate is irrelevant as long as I can play the odd video here and there. My point is that just because something doesn't suit you doesn't make it a turd. It's a turd.

Have suggested a new battery (about half a dozen times) but apparently the charging socket has died too. (He now uses a thing that the phone sits on to charge).Skyedriver said:
