Is it possible and if so how, to 'rip' some tracks from Jethro Tull's Aqualung on a DVD in 5.1 surround sound to a USB stick so I can play them along with all my other favourite tracks I have on a USB stick (plugged into my disc player)?

I've ripped all my CD's to my laptop then loaded to USB. Just be careful of the file format that you use. There are plenty to choose from on Amazon look for "cd ripper" or similar.

Handbrake ( https://handbrake.fr/ ) can be used to rip DVDs - not sure how it would handle 5.1 sound though.

Er... not quite sure what you're asking....???

Yes you can rip 5.1 to play on a PC in 5.1 using something like Foobar.

Yes you can rip DVD audio and convert it to 2.0 for normal stereo, assuming the disc player supports MP3???

What will the other player - play, format wise???

Whilst I would never advocate it, Shirley the simple answer is to use Google with something like Aqualung mp3 download and spend 2 minutes finding and downloading it, without all the silliness of conversion...???
