Thinking of going with EE or another provider....

I've just checked my account with BT and I was somewhat alarmed by the price....
On that basis I'm thinking of leaving and going to EE for broadband and tv (I know they're are one of the same, but they appear to offer different kit). I'm a bit of a technophobe and I found the several add-on options baffling.....
For background, we are a family of four, both me and my wife work at home, wife spends 95% of the working day on MS Teams, and my two teenage sons get into gaming/streaming when they get home from school. The house is an old 4 bed built in 1860, and I would like wi-fi to extend to the garage and the bottom of the garden (40m from house).
I'm open to any provider apart from Virgin, out of principle.
Any recommendations or advice?
