Last Week BT switched my landline to the Digital service. With the chord now plugged into the BT router the phone works fine. However, Prior to the switch our internet speed was an acceptable 75Mbps (FTTP not available). Since the switch with the phone pugged in the speed drops considerably - or at least that's what seems to happen. Images and videos on our mobiles take ages to load.

I can't work out why this should be, it's not as if the phone is in use at the time. Could it be some radio link between the phone base station and the three remote base stations interfering with the WiFi signal? Unplug the phone from the router and all is fine again so it's clearly something to do with the phone connection. I'd do without a landline but our alarm is monitored and needs a landline.

I've looked on the internet to see if there's anything but very little so I assume no one else has had it. Anyone experienced similar issues? frown

Yeah fair point, I'll ask the alarm people about that...

How is your alarm connected? Is it still connected to the old analogue cabling, is it actually being monitored now?

Yes cordless/dect phones can interfere with WiFi, they use frequencies 'miles' apart, but can still interfere if the devices are close to each other.

Interesting, I’m sure ours hasn’t been as good since but did the same here.
