0x800705b4 Windows 11 update error

Hello All,

my laptop won't update. This is the error message.

The last update was 03/04/2025.

There are lots of diferent ways suggested online, but I don't know who to trust!

Please post a youtube video if possible.

Check the last update that was installed successfully. Google the associated KB number with that update, see if others have experienced problems. That error doesn't really tell you much other than it's a generic Windows Update timeout code.

The usual sfc /scannow and resetting Windows update cache can work, but usually, the underlying cause is the previous successful update causing the problem.

Xenoous, thanks for your response. I've fixed it!

I ran command promt as an administrator. I typed "net stop wuauserv". It said "....stopping" and after a few minutes said "...couldn't stop". I then rebooted, which took over an hour. Now OK.
