Becoming an overnight UTUBE star and influencer
Discussion
Actually I really just want to make a few videos of my grandkids , and a few from my motorbike and a few from my car ,when the wife and I are messing about in the countryside and on holiday.
I have no idea where to start and given it might not be for me I would like to buy some used kit to try it out and get me going .
So easy videos of the family, a few whilst we are walking about on holiday , some from my motorbike perhaps fixed to my helmet , some from my convertible car as we doodle about in the countryside.
E bay gets you a new GoPro for £20 albeit I know this must be nonsense.
It would be great to get a bit of advice for a kit maybe, not necessarily most up to date . Assuming I can store on a hard drive , they won't be going to you utube, as a 60 year old slightly fat fellow I won't be in the cast much. Thank you.

For basic video stuff, the simplest method of all is just to use your smartphone camera - assuming you have a fairly modern smartphone with a decent camera resolution. Install the Youtube app and upload your videos directly to it from your phone, no faffing about with cables or card readers.
If you want to go beyond that, then yes a GoPro or some other video camera will do the job and you can upload the footage from the device either via a cable or the inbuilt storage card (normally SD card) to your computer/laptop, when you can then access Youtube from to upload the footage once you've edited it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I may have not been helping with the rather daft title. The video will not be going to utube. Purely for friends and family. I don't want to use the phone on a motorbike hence the request for some stand alone equipment advice . Insta360 seem to be the 'go to' vlogging/action cameras at the moment...with GoPro dropping off due to expensive prices and unclear differentiations around models (currently up to Hero13).
But the Insta360 starts at over £300, whereas the entry-level GoProHero starts at £170.
Depends on how much you want to spend, but you'll probably save 30% by going back a generation or two older, but I wouldn't go much further back than that as they don't tend to last very long and specs that sound good are not really (poor battery life, poor wifi, terrible sound, etc.). Plus, with a used, older model you're likely to get a bundle of accessories included.
Alternatively there are lots of alternative makes that may or may not live up to their credentials/specs...but it all comes down to price. For example, a few years back I tried to sell my ageing GoPro Hero 4 Black bundle that I'd used on track days and road trips for 6/7 years (just couldn't be bothered recording, editing, sharing anything anymore), but couldn't even get £60 for it on ebay so it went to the local charity shop.

I use a Crosstour CT9900 action cam for recording drives in my Riley and find it well up to the task. I bought it from Amazon and it came with all the accessories I needed other than a screen mount, a four extra batteries plus charge and a few memory cards. The whole lot cost me under £130.
I now have hours and hours of video taken over six years and thousands of miles waiting to be edited...
