How do I.....

Send gmail via outlook? We're situated in a business centre which has a shared broadband connection and an SMTP relay is provided by the Network Admin. to each user/company.

gmail's SMTP relay is smtp.gmail.com however when I test the account settings I get a red X. I also get a red X if I replicate the SMTP relay provided by the network administrator.

So...I have 2 email accounts....I can send and receive email via our domain hosting account but I can only receive email in my gmail account. I can't send gmail email.

Phewww. Any ideas? I suspect I can get a much better and quicker response from the IT PH Bods than our network admin.

Thanks in anticipation.

I'm running Outlook 2002 at home and can't send gmail either. I suspect this has more to do with Gmail than my setup.

You have to tick the box for SSL, and the one for authenticated SMTP. Not sure if it'l let you send mail from a non-gmail address in any case though.

You dont.

Its a buggered implementation for almost 50% of Gmail users.

I've never been able to get it to work and Google admit there is an issue but they havent got resolution for it yet.

As I suspected, the man without plot. Bah, humbug!
