Staying at a nice Airbnb.

Smart TV in the kitchen worked fine last few days... Suddenly this morning YouTube barely works at 480p, Netflix fails on connecting to it.

I restart it a few times, no change.

Tried other devices, all connecting fine at around 30mb. Youtube works fine on them. Kids watching Netflix in the lounge without issue, same as last few morning.

I forget connection, reset up up... No improvements.

I turned off ip6 (for no good reason, other then it was a setting to fiddle.

Tried everything again an hour later.... No improvements.

Im baffled as to how it could suddenly throttle 95% of the Internet, and what options I have to try and fix.

Not on hols to watch TV in the kitchen, but my inner geek is curious as to what has happened here!? How something can work fine.. Then suddenly struggle at 5% connection capability!!!

Hit it with a hammer?
That is about the max I'd try to do given it's someone else's stuff. Ask your host, not an Internet forum biggrin

Tempting, but realistically they're not going to know!

An hour later... The lounge TV is now doing it. Which was working fine up until 25mins ago??

Yep, rebooted router, and end of the day... TV still unable to load anything!

My phone records 25Mb but TV only manages 0.436Mb via Netflix connection check.

As said, worked fine for the first couple of days.

Not checked for hidden cameras, with my dadbod I'd be disappointed if they weren't recording!!!

Have you checked whether TV is connecting to 2.4GHz or 5GHz WiFi? If could be all the other devices are connecting to a different network.

Is there anything else going on through the router? It sounds like congestion on the link - is it possible others are using the same connection? Have the kids started any big downloads (games, movies) or are there any operating system updates downloading?

Nope, the two TVs upstairs are watching netflix/equivalent. Only wife has a phone connected other then my own.

No big downloads or torrents (a killer on bandwidth in my youth!!)

Tried a full factory reset on the TV, and reset the connection (can't see what Ghz though!).... .. But it's absolutely no better. It's almost worse, as I can't load the TV to load the apps!! TV just tells me the network is unstable!?

Im baffled!!

Yes could be 2.4GHz - try turning off Bluetooth on nearby devices?

Our Tv does this sometimes at home. Usually fixed by clearing the cache
