Please forgive me as I’m a bit of a Luddite when it comes to Apple.

I have an Apple iPad Pro which obviously has an Apple Account with email address and password. This iPad is my ‘personal’ device but I use this for my business when I am on the move - emails etc. My ‘work’ desktop is Microsoft Windows. All files are stored on DropBox so accessible on both the Microsoft PC and the Apple iPad.

I’m going to be living and working away for a few weeks. The location where I will be working as an unused Apple iMac sitting around, doing nothing.

Is it simply a case of logging into the iMac with my Apple ID and if so, will it replicate all of the Apps currently on my iPad on the iMac?

No it will not. You will be able to see anything sync'd to iCloud but the Operating systems on iPad and Mac are different. Apple support is very good-call them before you leave for advice on what you can do.

What apps do you rely on with your Ipad pro ?

Pretty much any Ipad app will run on an Imac no problem.

Depends on the age of Mac.

If it’s an Apple silicone Mac then some the apps will sync over if they are listed as compatible for both Mac and iPad. Like when I install a new app on my iPhone that has Apple silicone Mac compatibility it automatigally installs on my M2 Air.

If it’s an older Intel Mac - it’ll just be whatever you have synced to iCloud.

However, no matter what you’ll be able to install and access Dropbox to access everything you currently do between Windows and iOS

With Dropbox and well anything else do you need to be concerned about data integrity, who will wipe the system after you leave to ensure there is no work data left behind.

Is that of any concern?

Thanks all for your prompt and brilliant responses. It sounds like it’s worth a try and see how I get on with it - logging in and seeing what’s there.

From a data security perspective - it’s a good point - I use 2FA on Dropbox to so not too much of a worry about. That said, I will be living and working from the Girlfriends home address (for a few weeks - long story) so its less of a concern in the grand scheme of things but, in any case, the 2FA covers-off that point.
