Best app controllable thermostat 2025?

so thanks to sodding google my once smart nest 2 is about to become a dumb device.
what are my options for a decent smart thermostat solution with app control that won't break the bank?

I have 'Hive' which I've used for a few years without any issues.

I'm with Hive as well; seems to be okay, but I did upgrade all of my TRVs so I can control the temperature of each room on a schedule.

The Hive TRVs can (it's optional) tell the main hub to turn on, and you can tie multiple TRVs together if you have several in a single room.

We have a Tado system. Every radiator apart from the one in the bathroom has a Tado controller on it. So every radiator can be controlled separately with its own schedule. Additionally in some rooms we have separate thermostats so which can be linked to multiple radiators in the same room. Works great. Not cheap but often have special offers.

Another Hive user here, and for a fair few years.

Observations:

It's reliable.

The app's a little clunky.

Adverts are too frequent.

I've stuck with it for years, so on balance, I'm satisfied with it.

I was a big fan of the Nest (3?) controllers, and it s a shame that they got discontinued.

I ve since moved house, and Tado seems to be the best option for me (2 heating zones and a hot water tank), but the look of the thermostat units puts me off a bit. Is there a new Nest product coming to the UK or have they totally exited now?

Another vote for tado, have had no problems and just seems to work.

Yep same here, not particularly "sexy", it just works and does the job, love the geofencing which is ideal for the wife's work patterns.

Yes, really peed off about this as well. Are Nest discontinued completely now?

Don’t see why they have to make them dumb when the app still works for them and could just leave the app alone??

thanks for the comments.
Whatever I buy has to be remote unit as I have no 'wires' to attached the new thermostat to.
The existing nest 2 has a heatlink thing connected to the boiler that nest unit itself connects to for control so the new thermostat has to be able to connect to the boiler in the same way.
Have to say it's really pissy of google to not even leave some sort of unsupported legacy app to be able to carry on using the damn thing.

Used Nest for 10+ years. Very easy to use and good mobile app too. Even my Mum can use it, which says a lot!

I had the first Google Thermostat and it was great, the house I moved into has Hive and I've been using it for a few years now, its ok but its not as programable as the Nest one was.

Tado here. Much better than the Hive system in another place.

Tado works very well in simple setups, but needs some fiddling if you need multiple UFH zones with wireless thermostats. It's much happier with a single wireless thermostat. Tado TRVs work well if you have rads. I have a mix of both.

It's pretty much fit & forget, which frankly is rather pleasing in a central heating system.

got 4 separate zones in our house and an Underfloor stat, we have added to it as well as we only started with 2 but have moved things around so we don't heat the whole house when we are both leaving for work for example

It's very good, set it all up and it just works

Google have a habit of discontinuing good products!

I was wondering when this would be mentioned. I have been using Heatmiser for a while (6 years). 14 zones. Before going to Heatmiser I looked at all the other products mentioned on this thread and for my usage, Heatmiser was the best choice.
