Apple Mac Book Pro - Problems

I'm looking for some help please. My old Apple Macbook pro has stopped working. Was fine before i upgraded to a macbook air and then left it for a few months.
Plugged it in and it just doesnt turn on. A local laptop repair place told me it needs a new power board. Any idea what this is, where to buy and if it can be done at home.

Did you try plugging it in for a day? Battery might just be deep discharged.

I dug out some old phones to sell, they wouldn’t switch on either, but I charged them overnight and they were fine.

It's unlikely to have suddenly developed a fault with the power board, more likely to just have got so discharged it won't charge the battery.

Thanks. My local laptop guy told me that it is a dead logic board.
