I grew up gaming, but PC only. I remember at school being gutted everyone else had various play stations etc and I couldn't relate.... As parents would not allow games consoles for various reasons.

As the kids are getting to that age, I want to get them into it... But not to the extent of forking out £100s. It also needs to be 3 or 4 player.

We have an old wii which goes down well, but is there anything one step up from it?

I don't mind an aliexpress special etc, just needs to do the job of basic games ideally for up to 4 players!

Thanks

Nintendo Switch? Portable, but you can plug it into the TV as well.

Nintendo Switch is probably the answer tbh.

The parental controls kinda work and you get MarioKart....

2nd hand switch will be good value as people upgrade to the switch 2.

The game carts really hold their value so if you can get a bundle with a load of carts included you can sell the ones you don’t want for decent money

Nintendo switch will be hundreds, but agree it’s best option.
