Anyone got any recommendations? extra points if its Zigbee/Zwave/Wifi to integrate with Home Assistant.

My external garage side door , wooden, has a standard 3 lever mortice lock - you know, rectangular bolt, key operated, handle that pulls back the "triangle" latch. Door is either unlocked (and latches , handle opened), or locked with key.

I access it all day long and consequently keep leaving it unlocked overnight. Could do with something fingerprint operated so it locks itself every time its closed by default (hence the desire for easy fingerprint access rather than a code as I go in and out a lot)

We have various fingerprint and code entry locks around the place. For fingerprint to work you need clean hands.

The difficulty with a mortise is that you need energy to actuate the system. We have similar on a door, rigged up to a fingerprint sensor, where the bolts are withdrawn electronically.

The easiest solutions are:

1) Add a supplementary Yale code lock (which is what we’ve done where it’s just to prevent opportunistic entry); or
2) Swap the lock mechanism to one in which you can then fit a smart Euro cylinder. I believe you can get Zigbee smart cylinders.

If swapping the mechanism isn’t usually difficult if you stick with the same lock manufacturer (and offset) as you currently have as they tend to have their own standard case sizes. Will probably still need a chisel to fine tune it.

Cheers - between posting and now I also decided to add a supplimentary lock. I've ordered a Eufy C220

Will put it above the regular lock.
