Well I’ve discovered why it wouldn’t save settings for the past 2 years after replacing the battery … hehe

Some time ago now, I fitted a second M.2 drive. The slot has a heatsink, so I undid the screw, and carefully removed the heatsink, keeping it flat, so I didn't lose the little screw.

Fitted it all back together. But I noticed the whatever software was saying the drive was getting very hot. I mentioned this to a mate and he said "You have removed the strip of plastic stuff that's on the back of the heatsink?"

Ah, well, no. Because i'd never turned the heatsink over, I'd never seen it.

It was much cooler after I removed it !

I didn't do that with the wife's gate zapper at all. It was just an unrelated fault that I managed to fix.

I always have to replace those batteries just after I’ve trimmed my nails.

Ha I did the same thing on a few PCs I refurbished for the NHS a few years back. Safe to say I was alerted to the error of my ways relatively quick. Not made the same mistake again! Fortunate as the last one I did was on a Hypervisor server hehe
