Evening All,

About 6 weeks ago, a Windows Installer Error message appeared, each time I started my PC :

The curious aspect to this, is that I haven't been trying to install any software (?).

I tried to get rid of this error, by going into Services, selecting Windows Installer and starting the process (which was Stopped).

I tried other things as well, but try as I might, I couldn't get rid of the message; in the end, I resorted to Restore the System from a few weeks previously.

The Restore worked well - until today, when the same error message has returned.

I've just done another Restore and the message has gone . . . for the time being.

Given that I'm (still) not seeking to install an new software, is this error due to Windows Updates, or something else ?

The Autoruns tools will list everything running at startup and perhaps help you find what it is. Just be careful if you start deleting items!
