Hi All,

I have a little used Sony DVD/Bluray player that I tried to use this morning but there was no sound and the picture was very pink.

I tried changing cables and hdmi ports but I couldn’t make it behave.

So I unplugged it and took it upstairs and plugged it into another TV(almost identical 6 months newer model to the one downstairs LG fwiw)

It worked fine!

Tried again downstairs but still the same. It worked fine the last time we used it I’m guessing 6 months ago.

Any ideas on what’s going on appreciated!

Replying to my own thread. I found a setting that got colour back - auto something to RGB. However, I can get any sound from the damn thing regardless of the audio settings I fiddle with. Unsure if audio is an issue on TV2.

Do you have another HDMI device you can plug in to the TV to test it is not the port itself ?

I’ve tried hdmi 2 and 3 so think the ports are ok and the Nintendo Wii, yes you read correctly worked fine with pictures and sound.

It’s a Sony player and the AI result was right about the picture setup fix but the sound fix didn’t work.

The oddest thing is that it worked the last time we used it. I’ve tried 2 different discs just in case too.

I had a really odd issue a little while ago where the connection between a projector and screen was to old so wouldn’t play audio, something to do with HD digital rights, this was over rgb cable to hdmi converter though

Does the TV support the right version of HDMI and HDCP?

I’ll have to look this up! The tv is probably 7 or 8 years newer than the dvd player.

Hmm, unlikely to be either that then. Unless maybe they dropped certain features for cost/licensing issues.

If the audio isn't working is the player set to an audio output format the TV doesn't support?
