Alexa echo dot speakers play sound from dvd / bluray player?

I have a pair of 5th gen echo dot set up as a stereo pair in the Alexa app. These speakers have no 3.5mm jack.
If connected by bluetooth music will only come out one speaker (as bluetooth cannot transmit to more than one receiver (my wording)) eg if playing youtube from my phone. Which is therefore already annoying and crap.
I want to play sound from Sony blue ray player via these speakers when watching films. Seems like a normal thing to want to do, but how the f
k can I do it? Is it even possible? Wasting my time searching for answers. The player has bluetooth but I already know that will only come out 1 speaker?!
