Chromecast borked
Discussion
Mine has given up. Sure that I only bought it 3 years ago to replace an older borked one. Think it cost me £29 from Argos.
So my old plasma Panny is dumb again. Tried rebooting, factory reset (started working but tedious having to sign back in to all my TV apps, yes Disney, you are s
te) but half an hour later it's back to connecting to my router but saying no internet. Same thing when connecting to my phone's hot spot.
It's been having these connection problems for the past year but normally connecting to my phone sorts it.
It always feels pretty hot so I guess it's cooked itself, much like the last one.
Seems they don't make the Chromecast anymore and you need to buy something costing over 3 times as much.
Any ideas folks.
Guess I could buy a Smart telly but I love the picture on the Panasonic and I hate getting rid of stuff that still works, especially after 15 years.
Cheers.

There'll be 000's available at cex with their 5 year warranty.
Just looked, they want £55.Mine was £29 new

Last night it decided to finally connect to my phone's hotspot but still refused to connect to my router.
Sees it, connects to it but says that it doesn't have internet. Router is working for everything else and getting a decent download speed.
Yeah, I have a Panny Plazzy (VT60) and I think I'm on my third google plug-in smart device thing..They seem to get a bit flakey and eventually a newer device appears at a low enough price to update. I have a Google TV Streamer which is the current google device for that type of thing - more memory onboard and an ethernet port too.. It's now behaving a bit flakily with the YouTube app but I think that's more of a YouTube thing than a device thing as other apps work okay.....

I love our chromecasts, its a real shame google stopped making them. I wish I'd got the audio versions as well.

I've got their first audio one plugged into my Nad amp, bought back in 1985.
The amp is still connected to the speakers also bought in 1985 made by Acoustic Research.
Just brilliant for casting music or radio from my phone. Shame I live in a flat. I can't have the audio on the Nad higher than One, and this one goes to 11
The Chromecast for the telly is now mysteriously working with the router, for now.
Have always found the device really useful for when I travel so I can literally bring my TV with me when staying in hotels or AirBnBs.
