One of the technical bods here at work mentioned that MS do a small program which scans a network and reports back what software is installed on each machine. The problem is I can't find anything on the MS site about it - does it actually exist?

If the MS one doesn't exist, is there a freeware version to scan a network and pull details of the major packages (i.e. works, word/excel / office2003) etc.

Cheers

Dunno about a small program, SMS is pretty big unless there's something else they do as well?
