I've just inherited one of these with a new house. Is it really as crap as it seems?

It takes 2x AA batteries, okay not a big thing, seems wasteful not being rechargeable, but I can always get rechargeable AAs. I've signed up and it's given me 30 days trial of it's subscription.

Live view? Nope
2-way communication? Nope.
Even recording, no not really.

I must being missing something, the app tells tale of a module upgrade - like a tiny Wifi/NAS that acts as a recording device.

Anyone use Blink, is it worth spending more on more kit, or just buy a Ring like I had before?

What model is it? saying its "Blink" is like saying "are Fords good for towing?" Depends on the model.

It could be some very ancient thing that was a pile of turd but more modern versions work well.

To be honest for the relatively small cost I'd probably just buy new anyway.

I have Blink. It needs a the sync module to do the live view etc. they are cheap on Amazon. Great system and I’ve connected my cameras to small solar panels with built in batteries that work well. Also from Amazon. Integrates well with Alexa

Ooh do you have a link for the solar?

We have blink (no real issues) but the battery drain is a pain.

I have a lot of Blink stuff.
Had it a long time, so no subscription.

The powered devices work well, my outdoor cameras are a bit laggy. But Ok just to get an alert & check recording. Laggy as in speaking will have a massive delay. I do have the sync module. My outdoor camera batteries last years.

No doorbell, maybe i’ll get one from an Amazon sale. Can return it if it’s rubbish!
