Originally went down the route of an e-reader for the beach but quickly transitioned to music and audio books instead.

I have an unused iPhone 6 with plenty of storage space so I am now looking for headphones.

Ideally wire free and durable. Also will need to be app free since the iPhone 6 will only be running IOS 15.8.8.

I'm thinking over the ear only since I want to be able to hear the music. Beaches can be noisy places but headphones don't necessarily need to be noise cancelling.

Suggestions please!
Thanks.

Get a set of AirPods. Noise cancelling works very well and they’re small. You don’t want large over ear headphones whilst sunning yourself.

Personally I would say a set of these for £26:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CWV4ZG6H?ref=ppx_yo2...

Noise cancelling, good battery life, cheap enough to be disposable, USBC, dont need an app to get the best from them, etc.

That to me is the sort of thing that's ideal for the beach, mainly due to the near-disposable price tag. You won't be upset when they get filled with sand, dunked in seawater, or stolen while you're off for a swim.

For in-ear ones, something like the Anker Soundcore range at sub-£20 to about £30

I read that as 'Cambridge Audio Melanoma' and for some reason it really tickled me being about headphones for the beach! silly

wireless buds are perfect - they are not hot to wear, and you can wander into the sea still listening to yoru audiobook if you stand your phone upright on your chair / lounger. I do it all the time in places like Thailand. They've never fallen out (Bose QC IIs or Sony WH1000-Ms)

I've been using a soundcore Q20 for the last few years - was tired of spending megabucks on ones that barely lasted beyond the warranty (Sony, I am looking at you).

They've been incredibly robust, despite being used everywhere. So if you don't mind over ear, I think the modern version of them would be worth a look.

I imagine over the ear will lead to incredibly hot and sweaty ears when in a beach environment.

If you still want an e-reader, the Amazon Kindles "do" Audible with bluetooth earphones. I understand you can also store mp3s on the Kindle and play them.
