Virgin Media to Cease Providing Email Service
Discussion
A heads up for those with VM email addresses including NTLWorld, Blueyonder etc. From this month you will receive notification the service will cease. You can however retain your email address by operating through the link they will send to Junara but that comes at a cost. It's a 99p admin charge and free for the first 12 months, thereafter you'll pay £65 - £79 (or more) per year depending on storage.
I've not been told yet as a NTLWorld user and only found out when Outlook failed to send emails linked to that account and Google AI flagged it up. I had to go through hoops to get a new 'secure' passkey to use for ingoing/outgoing server access.
Yes I was advised 20yrs ago when I lost freeserve to use an email address not tied to an ISP but didn't think VM would pull the plug given I'm a paying customer. I have now found out providing an email service is not part of the VM customer contract. They haven't provided emails since 2022. Funny how when you want to cancel the service you get the veiled threat you'll lose your email
I am safe with iCloud given I can never see me not being an iPhone customer I wonder?

Thank for the update.
Have used my ntlworld email for all official use, so I will need to find a replacement!
Same for me, albeit I've spent most of the day swapping logins and contact emails to my iCloud account. It's frustrating that Octopus Energy for example won't allow you to change your email login/contact via either the App or web account, you have to email them or call customer service, yet my bank which is clearly a higher level of security are happy with me doing it!Have used my ntlworld email for all official use, so I will need to find a replacement!
When I get notice I'll wait until near the end of the 45 day period and sign up to Junara for a year for 99p to catch anything I miss and then let it lapse. Unless there's a review of pricing for VM customers I'm not paying £65+ just for an email service to a provider that may end up the same way in the future.
