I've used 1Password for years and never really had an issue or begrudged the renewal fee but the cost has shot up this year plus they seem to be struggling to accept a UK credit card.

As a quick test (and backup) I've exported my vault to CSV and imported it into Apple Passwords as my personal devices are Apple.

Seems to do the job just fine.

1Password might say the latest debit card I've tried to add has worked for the renewal - but if it doesn't does anyone see a reason for anything more than Apple Passwords as a stopgap and possible full solution?

I don't really use random devices and my own stuff is all Apple.

I use Bitwarden but with a self-hosted vault in a vaultwarden docker container, but if you only use Apple then I dont think theres any benefit to anything other than Apples offering

I've been using Keeper for a few years. Use it across iPhone/iPad/Mac without issue. Can't comment on price as I get a family place through work for free.

Is there much benefit over 'keychain' - the Apple free built in system?

I don't use a password manager, other than keychain which has every password stored.

Other options work better cross platform. BitWarden offers the option of hosting your vault on your own device rather than sending it to the cloud. If you are 100% in the Apple system then there wouldn't be any benefit.

Makes sense... I only use Apple stuff - but had wondered if I was missing something.

It would be good if I knew my Apple password. I don't as it's stored in keychain and is Apple generated gobblydegook.

Roboform works well for me and my family. Had it for years. Works across all the platforms we use.

The Apple one works fine, can share passwords with other people (we use it for family passwords) I used to have 1password, but let it lapse years ago when Apple offered a decent service.

Proton offer a password manager, it integrates with iOS too - however I've not moved anything to it, as I don't see the point with Apple hosting the passwords for me, I don't have any non Apple devices.

I am another one who uses KeePass. My only limit in devices is due to the fact my file is on my DropBox account so limited to 3 devices, but I could move it to another cloud provider (OneDrive, gmail, etc) and not have that same restriction.

Keychain (now Passwords) doesn't store your device password but you use it every time you sign into your Mac, so you probably do know it. The other one you need to know is your Apple ID (which is in passwords) in case you lose all your devices at once in a fire or flood.

There is a free version or paid for version. For most people the free version is fine, it's only if you need lots of 2FA logins or need unlimited password vaults you need the paid for version.

The thing both versions are missing though is a password generator.

EDIT - Proton do have a password generator online, but it's not integrated into the app unfortunately.

The iCloud app for windows does include the password functionality..

It’s been my main password manager for a fair while with no issues. If you’re on a random device, you’ve likely got your phone, and by extension, your passwords.

I can find it in the app but not the extension? With Chrome's password manager when you are entering a password for a new account it says "generate password" or something like that and suggests a new password, but Proton Pass doesn't, that's why I assumed it didn't have it.
