The Mrs has got a near 10 year old 2nd gen iPad Pro 12.9 that doesn't get updates and is starting to feel a bit long in the tooth now.

I'm after a replacement, but don't particularly want to pay brand new prices for the modern equivalent, so was thinking of buying refurb or 2nd hand from somewhere like CEX.

She wants the big screen and the magic keyboard.

She doesn't tend to hoarde files but we don't want to run out of space either.

ChatGPT suggests either 2024 iPad Air 13" or 2022 iPad Pro 12.9 M2. However, the latter is coming up to 5 years old itself. iPad Air sounds OK but the 60Hz screen will probably seem like a slight downgrade as even the 2nd gen has a 120 Hz screen.

Any thoughts?

I didn’t want to spend what a pro costs when I dropped mine, the latest 12.9 air is a similar / better spec to an older pro

I have the air as a daily driver and use the pro in the office.

The air is a solid device but the screen is VERY noticably sub par by 2026 standards.

Thanks, I think I'll definitely rule the Air out in that case.
