I turned on my machine this morning and opened Thunderbird. Nothing.
All empty and no accounts listed. Have I lost everything?

The store folder is in

C:Documents and Settings<your user name>Application DataThunderbirdProfiles<random letters>MailLocal Folders

You could check in there to see if your stuff is still there?

Actually, that's only the default location, if he changed it on install they could be anywhere. Personally I have my stored in an encrypted PGP virtual folder.

Thunderbird is showing no email because it can't find your profile folder. If it can't find one, it will build a new, empty one.

If your profile folder isn't in the default location then search your whole hard drive for .msf files - these should be found in the mail profile folder.

If the above doesn't find anything then you need to consider if you could have accidentally deleted your profile, in which case you'll need to start thinking about recovery software if your data is important and not in the Recycle Bin.
