My company is selling off some of their old PC's for £50 (one per employee before you ask) but they only come with the tower and nothing else.

Where is a good/cheap place to get a screen, keyboard & mouse. Basically im a The Sims player and my current PC wont load the game as im currently on Windows ME which isnt compatable. I want to end up with a machine dedicated to the game the rest of my stuff will be done on this pc (which probably needs updating at some point).

Cheers

What about a decent KVM? Its a box that plugs into both your PCs and into one keyboard, mouse and monitor and lets you switch between displaying / driving the two. Probably not that much difference in price between it and a cheap monitor, keyboard and mouse but it does save a bit of space.

Even better, you could figure out which PC is best, install a more up to date OS on it and just use that one

Note that cheap KVMs are RUBBISH. You'll get all sorts of nasty interference patterns on your screen if you use one, so don't

Alternatively, move your existing kvm to the 'best' PC and use remote desktop to connect to the other one for other stuff?

Thinking about it it might me nice to have The Sims running on one screen and surf on the other.

Dont know if you have ever played the Sims but its not a quick game where you just play for an hour, you can spend months building up a family as its open ended, you cant actually finish the game.

Might have a peek on Ebay for the little stuff

Cheers for the ideas

A KVM switch box would still be ok for this. You can boot both PC's up and just press a button to switch between them. On mine, I just hit "scroll lock, scroll lock, down arrow" and it switches from one PC to the other. So, you can still have the Sims running on one PC, surf on the other, and just flick between them.

Thats sound great but I would like to give you something for them.

Recently I wanted to give away some steel wheels for an E30 that had been in my loft for 8 years doing nothing. I jokingly asked for a 4 pack of carling, when the guy turned up he gave me a crate of Carling, which was nice. Whats your tipple?

That's awfully kind of you old bean. A Nebuchadnezzer of Krug or a nice bottle of Chateau Latour 61, or failing that, 64.

Honestly, I don't really need anything for them, but if you want to bring something, they're sitting here gathering dust. But a bottle of red plonk will do fine. PM me and we can disucss this further...

Cheers
Jim
