cant play mpg movies

I have quicktime and can see about 5 sec of a movie but then it goes green and just have the sound.

The windows player doesnt play it and I have tried Divx without sucess. Is their and easy download player that will play mpg (mpeg) movies?

Trouble is, the mpeg loads and starts in quick time but after a few seconds the pic is wiped and replaced with just a green screen - dont understand. help
