Busted e-mail and avgemc.exe
Discussion
I've used Grisoft AVG very happily for about a year. Suddenly this morning Zone Alarm flagged up that 'avgemc.exe' was trying to access the internet, and that it was a new application change (though I hadn't done anything)
A browse for avgemc.exe on Google says that it's part of AVG, but is also possibly spyware. Some places say keep it, others delete it. Not much help then!
Anyway, I denied the request and now find that I can't connect to the server to send/receive e-mail (I open Mailwasher 2.0 first, then send the good ones to OE). Neither Mailwasher nor OE can connect. I've rebooted to try to get the Allow/Deny message again but it's not appearing now.
My version of AVG is the free one so I don't have Tech Support, and My ISP isn't answering the phone.
Any suggestions folks?

Simpo, do you use Gmail by chance....
If so I was having problems sending mail earlier and the error message that O.E. kicked out said the problem was on Google's end, I was able to send successfully later in the evening.
I'm no expert but the only thing I can think of for your potential spyware/virus problem is to un-install AVG and see if the amgemc.exe is still on your computer if so it's probably something bad.
