Norton said that I have a virus, the message was repeated 4 times and I clicked OK each time. Ive since performed a full system scan but cant detect a virus.

How do I find out what I have, and remove it. I have a great deal of data I need to back up, and would like to remove the virus before backing up the data. Help guys

Can anyone recommend an online scanner, which you dont have to download?

Sorry , but Norton is a crock of sh*te took me ages to realise it, before I was recomended AVAST by a techie.

www.avast.com

and best of all IT'S FREE !!!

Shut down your internet connection, un-instal Norton then once you have installed it, do a schedual boot-time scan by licking on the eject like icon on the top left.
I did this and found about 70 viruses and spyware that Norton didn't pick up.

Just my two penneth

I was hoping an online check might pick up something norton didnt.

If more people recommend the same product over Norton I'll switch, part of the reason I use norton is its easy mail integration, 100% compatiblility with my (norton) firewall, and erm.. Ive always used it

How do I find this virus though, if Norton said I have it, but now cant find it? Ive had viruses in the past and every time Ive downloaded a special fix made specifically for that virus - if I dont know what the virus is, what do I do - without switching AV programs that is.

Agree with Shadytree, Nortin is rubbish. Go with Avast, as he says, it's not only free, but excellent.
